Home School Graduates

Home schools must meet accreditation as specified in the approved list of accreditation agencies, or applicants of home schools who did not attend a recognized accredited program must adhere to the following alternative path for admission: (1) submit a letter from the local school superintendent's office verifying that the parent or legal guardian notified the superintendent of intent to home school and must also verify that the parent or legal guardian submitted the required attendance reports to the superintendent's office on a monthly basis; (2) submit annual progress reports or final transcript for the equivalent of the home schooled student's junior and senior years. The final progress report should include the graduation date. Home schooled students must meet the documentation guidelines or attain a GED.

SWGTC only accepts high school transcripts from the following accreditation agencies. Acceptable accreditation must be in place when the diploma was granted. The following agencies are approved:

Regional accrediting associations that are a part of the Commission on Colleges (such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools)

the Georgia Accrediting Commission

the Georgia Association of Christian Schools

the Association of Christian Schools International

the Georgia Private School Accreditation Council

the Accrediting Commission for Independent Study

the Southern Association of Independent Schools

the Florida Council of Independent Schools

the Distance Education Training Council

A public school regulated by a school system and state department of education.

Private School Graduates

Private schools must meet accreditation guidelines established and published by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education. Approved accreditation include:

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), regional accreditation agencies, and other similar organizations provide accreditation for public and private colleges and secondary schools

Georgia Accreditation Commission (GAC) accredits public schools through the 12th grade, private Georgia schools, and educational agencies for special populations

Accreditation Council for Independent Study (ACIS) provides accreditation primarily for home schools

Georgia Private School Accreditation (GAPSAC) is an umbrella association for the Association of Christian Schools International, Seventh Day Adventist, International Christian Accrediting Association, and the Georgia Association of Christian Schools
