Home School Graduates
Home schools must meet accreditation as specified in the approved list of accreditation agencies (see Private School Graduates) or submit documentation of home schooling that includes a letter from the local school superintendent's office showing that the parents conformed to the requirements of the Georgia Department of Education. Home schooled students who meet the documentation guidelines must also submit acceptable SAT or ACT scores and achieve the appropriate minimum assessment test scores on ASSET or COMPASS for the program of choice or attain a GED.
Private School Graduates
Private schools must meet accreditation guidelines established and published by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education. Approved accreditation include:
- The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), regional accreditation agencies, and other similar organizations provide accreditation for public and private colleges and secondary schools
- Georgia Accreditation Commission (GAC) accredits public schools through the 12th grade, private Georgia schools, and educational agencies for special populations
- Accreditation Council for Independent Study (ACIS) provides accreditation primarily for home schools
- Georgia Private School Accreditation (GAPSAC) is an umbrella association for the Association of Christian Schools International, Seventh Day Adventist, International Christian Accrediting Association, and the Georgia Association of Christian Schools
