Cleaver-Brooks of Thomasville was nominated for a Manufacturing Award as part of Georgia’s Manufacturing Appreciation Week. Cleaver-Brooks, which manufactures boiler room products and systems, was nominated for the award by Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce President Don Sims.

Manufacturing Appreciation Week in Georgia is held each year to draw attention to the importance of manufacturing in the state. Nearly 10,000 manufacturing facilities are located in Georgia, providing jobs for approximately 450,000 people.

“Cleaver-Brooks employs about 230 people locally and is a global company. We are very fortunate to have Cleaver-Brooks as a corporate partner in our community,” said Gary Pitts, Vice President for Economic Development at Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC). “They have been especially supportive of SWGTTC and have encouraged their employees to continue their education wherever possible.”

Cleaver-Brooks has participated in SWGTC’s Management and Supervisory Development program and Georgia’s Quick Start Certified Warehousing and Distribution program. “More than 200 Cleaver-Brooks employees have passed the Georgia Work Ready Assessment tests and have been instrumental in helping Thomas County come closer to reaching its goal of earning the Georgia Work Ready Community certification by the Governor,” said Pitts.
