Three students at Southwest Georgia Technical College recently contributed their time and talents towards designing and building hand railing for the Thomas County Housing Authority building.
The project was brought to the attention of Sonny Scully, welding instructor at SWGTC who in turn asked drafting instructor Ralph Griffith if one of his students would like to do the design work. Travis Ferrell took on the task of designing the railing and welding students Roger Crabtree and Eric Jordan built the railings that were then installed on the handicapped accessible ramp at the Housing Authority.
“These are the types of projects that we enjoy having our students be involved in,” said Griffith. “It gives them great experience and also helps the community at the same time. It also gives us a chance to show what our students can do and showcase their talents and skills.”
