Student e-Mail

SWGTC student email accounts are available for our online students. We recommend that you use this account for communicating with your instructor and classmates in your online courses.

Your new email address is:

Your first initial, middle initial, entire last name, and the first four digits of your date of birth @ student.southwestgatech.edu

(example: jmdoe0417@student.southwestgatech.edu)
On the first day of class you may access your account at http://studentmail.southwestgatech.edu, using the following login information.

  • Username: your first initial, middle initial, last name, first 4 digits of birth date
    (ex. Jane M Doe, Date of Birth: 04-17-04 = jmdoe0417) or if this doesn’t work, try it without your middle initial (ex. Jane Doe, Date of Birth: 04-17-04 = jdoe0417)
  • Password: your 6-digit birth date mmddyy (041704)

Once you have successfully accessed your student email account, go into one of your Blackboard courses to update your email address. You can do this by clicking on Tools, Personal Information, Edit Personal Information, and entering your new email address.

Remember, communication is the key to success in the online environment. Contact your instructor by email on or before the first day of class and maintain communication throughout the quarter. If you do not communicate with the instructor during the drop/add period you will be counted as a “No Show”. Also, instructors may withdraw students who are inactive for two weeks in online courses.
