Southwest Georgia Technical College defines Institutional Effectiveness (IE) as the positive correlation of results to expectations. As a process, institutional effectiveness at Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) is a continuous, comprehensive, and integrated system of research, evaluation, data collection, assessment, analysis, planning, budgeting, and implementing.
IE employs a system that ensures that expected outcomes of units and programs and student learning outcomes are assessed; results are used for improvement planning and budgeting; plans are implemented and evaluated; and improvements are documented. The process is designed to continuously improve programs, services, and student learning and to demonstrate the progress of the College in fulfilling its stated mission. You may review the College’s Institutional Documents that includes the College Mission, Vision, Values, Philosophy, College Goals, Strategic Objectives, and Role and Scope and the College’s Institutional Effectiveness Model below:

The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act, P.L. 109-270, was passed by Congress and signed into law by the President in August 2006. The purpose of the law is to “help develop more fully the academic, career and technical skills of secondary and postsecondary students,” and to “assist students in meeting (the challenging academic and technical) standards, including preparation for high-skill, high-wage or high-demand occupations in current or emerging professions.
To receive Carl Perkins funds, eligible postsecondary technical colleges must have a completed and approved local plan and funding application. The Technical College System of Georgia distributes Carl Perkins federal funds to eligible postsecondary technical colleges within Georgia. Southwest Georgia makes Perkins Plans available to the public by posting approved plans on its website. The current Perkins Plans may be viewed as follows: Perkins Plan FY 2007 – FY 2008 and Perkins IV Transition Plan – FY 2008.
