Education at Southwest Georgia Technical College moves with the speed of life, and we understand that life can sometimes change suddenly. Our Adult Education Program is designed for those individuals who need assistance with basic academic skills. Flexible programs with non-traditional classroom hours are offered so that we can meet the needs of almost anyone’s schedule.
Our services include instruction in basic skills, GED preparation and testing, COMPASS test preparation, and the English as a Second Language program. Classes are available at no charge to adults and are held in Thomas, Grady and Mitchell Counties. Please see orientation and GED testing schedules below.
Legal Residents of Georgia who earned a General Education Development (GED/high school equivalency) diploma awarded by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education after June 30, 1993 may receive a one-time $500 HOPE award. This award can be used toward tuition, books, and other educational costs at an eligible public or private college, university, or technical college in a degree, diploma, or certificate program.
